Motivational Interviewing

A Counseling Approach That Helps People Resolve Ambivalent Feelings and Insecurities to Find the Motivation They Need to Overcome Addiction

Motivational Interviews (MI) stray from the historical means of approaching individuals suffering from substance abuse problems.

Research demonstrates that being confrontational and attempting to “talk sense” is highly unsuccessful because it is likely to result in resentment, refusal to change, distress, and harm the self-worth of those in need of compassionate care. Motivational Interviewing ties into our philosophies of the need for only the most compassionate staff, collaborative processes, and individualized treatment.

Through the therapeutic conversation between licensed clinicians and clients, the client’s own motivation for and commitment to change its strengthened. Rather than imposing or forcing particular changes, we meet the client where the client is and help them move towards their goals by drawing out and building his/her readiness to change.

Our caring team is standing by to help and answer any questions you may have about our motivational interviewing or our approach to addiction treatment with no judgement.
